Growing Feminized Hemp Crops

In 2020 we planted our first feminized seed crop.  This meant that after putting the energy, resources, and time into planting and growing our plants, we no longer needed to chop half the crop down.

For the previous two years we had grown non-feminized plants. Our crops produced both male and female plants.  Once the plants revealed their sex, we had to rid our hemp field of male plants, so that they didn’t pollenate the female plants.  If the males were to succeed in their pollination, it would have caused the female plants to put their energy into reproducing seed, rather than CBD flower.  Our feminized plants allowed for all the ladies to produce beautiful flower, without a worry of pollination.

We were the second hemp farm to be Certified Organic through VOF in 2018, and have continued with our certification every year since.  This means that we only use Certified Organic compounds, support biodiversity, and as a bonus, instill regenerative agriculture practices.

HARVEST AND EXTRACTION

Our harvest for 2020 was bountiful and beautiful. When it came time to extract our hemp flower, we searched for facilities that offered whole-plant, full-spectrum, ethanol extraction.  We believe this is the best way to extract, because it keeps the full benefits of the plant, including phytonutrients.  Phytonutrients have anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and detoxifying properties.

We soon realized that extraction prices had dropped significantly.  Between growing a bumper crop and saving on extraction, we made the decision to pay it forward to our customers and trusted retailers, by lowering our product prices.

The Pandemic wasn’t easy on any of us.  We witnessed many of our favorite small businesses close their doors.  In fact, according to The Gazette, 40% of small business had to shut down permanently in the last 15 months.

We are here to stay.  We believe in our business, we believe in our products, and we believe in our mission to help people to feel better.  The necessity of self-care and general well-being became intensely clear this past year.  To maintain balance and integrity; we upped our CBD intake, practiced yoga and meditation daily, and stayed focus on our intention. We want everyone to have access to affordable, clean, genuine CBD products.
